heating a 55 gallon tank

I just got a 55 gallon tank and got a powersun bulb for heating. I also have a Night Glo bulb for the night time. But its not getting warm enough in the tank it is staying 80 degrees with both lights on. What should I do im afraid to shut off the powersun bulb.
