With temperatures of 29 F at 9:30 pm, the salamanders were still poking their heads out! After they would retreat into the icy waterfilled holes I would simply turn off my flashlight. Then after I fooled one 3 times I decided to go. After all, it's cold out there right now!

:I just found a location in Central Grand Prairie with a fair number of Ambystoma texanum!
:I haven't found any of these from this area in about 17 years. It was a nice surprise.
:Unfortunately this relic population may only be around for about another year (maybe 2?). The entire area is scheduled for construction and the ground was bulldozed, scraped, and flattened about 200 yards away.
:Keep your eyes open! It's never to early to herp!
