......and it sounds like you're on the right track as far as treating it. It usually starts or developes in snakes that are kept on litter or shavings that get into the mouth when feeding, then irritate the lining as they remain there for long periods of time afterwords(or in the case of crotalus possible injury when striking?). There are likely better ways to treat it than what you are doing but I am unfamiliar with them as I haven't had to deal with this problem for over a decade now. What a "bummer", dude...
