I confirm hooks.. a lot of times I use two hooks... For field work, and moving cage furniture, etc... I occasionally use tongs... For these I use Pillstrom tongs... Pillstrom and Whitney are the 2 best tongs ever made and work great when in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing. Some of the newer knock-offs are horrible for field work, can't fit in rock crevices due to extra wide jaws, etc...

:For the usual crotalids around here (So.CA) I prefer the hook. Though I'll admit a squirelly atrox can be a bit of trouble.
