...or impending shed. I have had several corns sound for all the world like they are coming down with an RI when they are getting close to shedding. Once they shed, the noise disappears and they never show an ill effect.
If the snake is very close to shedding, I'd keep the snake warm, have a humidity box for the impending shed, and get it to the vet if it worsens (starts gaping at the mouth, starts foaming at the mouth or you see bubbles and/or exudate when it yawns, or if the noise doesn't clear up after it sheds).
