pretty handy idea for any snakes kept in single plastic shoebox containers. The best solution in my opinion is to build a lidless rack system. That way you can even throw the plastic lids away, there are no escapes, and it is much simpler/quicker to open the cages for servicing. I have a few racks and they are very handy. But I also still have some shoeboxes that have not been converted to racks, your idea would work well for those boxes.
