In Reply to: corns not wanting to breed, well males anyways, can you help? posted by cornball on April 23, 2003 at 12:39:47:
I'm having the same problem :o( it gets really frustrating. I have a butter corn that i thought was female but now i'm almost 100% sure it is male. I have two females that have been ovulating heavily(you can really feel the unfertilized eggs when they crwl along your hand)I have raised temps, and humidity, tried feeding them before, i even seperated them and then a few day later tried again. I have also tried the other male thing but my other males are smaller than him so he feels he has no competition.
When i put him in with one of the females he does the jeky movements and they respond with more jerky moves and she will start to crawl faster and he will just go on leisurely. when they do get almost lined up they stop crawling and he begins to twitch and wiggle his tail like he is trying to lift hers but when she lifts hers he keeps doing the same thing and then starts crawling away???? Maybe he needs viagra?
I hope someone else can help us out because i'm at a loss :o)
