The corn snake bible mentions the phrase "double clutching". Intuitively I assume this means the snake is actually incubating a second set of eggs at the same time a first set is about to be laid.
I only ask because my snake laid her eggs today (see earlier post-15 successes), and her body shape is still very triangular (i.e. her spine is sticking up noticably).
Another reason I ask, is that despite my best efforts to pound tons of food into her from the time I saw them mating until she refused all together- she has clearly lost a lot of body mass and I don't think another clutch would be a good thing until I can plump her up again...
She accepted 3 fuzzies tonight, my last three, but if you guys think this is a possibility, I'll probably have to run out tomorrow (instead of this weekend like I planned) and get some more small meals for her just in case...
she's a great eater but is refusing my small rat (which she accepted while gravid) and is only accepting smaller feed (understandable)
thoughts?
