In Reply to: White stuff around the nostrils ? posted by bseery on May 02, 2003 at 14:44:08:

:Both my male and female collareds seem to have some white flakey stuff around their nostrils. The nostrils look completely blocked, but they are not breathing through their mouths (as far as I can tell).

:Any idea what this gunk is, why it is there and should I be worried about it ?

Always freaks everybody out at first when ya see it ! Just excess salt being eliminated out through nostrils, other lizards such as uromastyx sneeze excess salt out and you find white splatter marks all over glass. If there is alarge build up you can use a damp Q-tip and swab it off but usually dissapears in a few days by itself ! A few of mne have it as we speak. Good Luck !!! :0) Eve
