I think if your cham thinks he is the boss he won't feel stressed or threatened in his environment. My cham threatens me all the time and I find he feels more secure if I come up from under him to pick him up. He doesn't like anything up over his head (birds attack from that direction). Once he is up on my hand he is OK. After all why would he want to bite the perch he is on.
