Homemade Misting System

I'm waiting, waiting, waiting to get my panther...doing lots of research. In the meantime, I'm all over the net, sticking my nose in every corner. Anyway, in my web travels I found this page describing a DIY misting system that I figured I'd post:

http://www.trix.com/binx/mister/

This guy uses his computer to control the system's on/off, but as he says, a simple light timer can accomplish the same thing. It seems like a pretty good way for the technically inclined to build a solid timer for under $50...instead of $150 for the better commerical models.

Here's a follow-up question: if you get a misting system like this set-up, is there an easy way to create an automated drip system as well? Would an additional drip system even be necessary? For those of us who live alone (or don't trust housemates) and occasionally spend a weekend on the road, these questions seem important.
