I think one of the reasons that they aren't crossed by some people is to keep the bloodlines as pure as possible. If some day there are stricter laws against importation, than we will be stuck with the bloodlines we have. If some don't try and keep the locales separate, than they may be lost.
But, I don't see a problem with crossing locales. As long as the buyer knows what they are, and there are still people who are interested in maintaining the "original" bloodlines.
