Sometimes chams simply make mistakes. I had a veiled who would shoot shiny bits of mica off my carpet. He also loved perlite so I learned not use potting soil with any even in my houseplant pots. He would check the pots and even dig for it. Sometimes a shiny surface in the right light looks interestingly like food or water. Think about the chams who shoot at hanging water drops.
