I have had a male Jackson for about 4 1/2 yrs. Believe I have all the right conditions for him as he has been healthy all these years. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed a black spot on the ridge in the middle of his back. I kept an eye on it and it has grown to about the size of 1/4 in in diameter. He continues to act and eat normally. Yesterday I took him to the vet. I was given the option of trying a daily application of Silvadene cream 1% (silver sulfadiazine) or go ahead and do a biopsy & culture (for a few hundred dollars). I opted to try the Silvadene and we have a follow-up appt in one week. Does anyone know of that cream treating this successfully? Or, should I have immediately opted for the biopsy, culture option? Thanks for any comments.
