I was wondering, since you own a pet shop...where would I begin to look for a list of reptiles that are prohibited for import?
Do you know if a particular species is prohibited in the U.S, does that mean it's prohibited in North America?? Or does each country set it's import laws? I know that sounded like a very stupid question...but you never know!
The reason I ask is, I saw a prehensile tailed skink...and it's in reallllly bad shape. His toes are gone on both front feet, and between his back feet, he's missing another 5. I think the last two inches of his tail is going to be next! He's a big guy *Thinking*...hmmmm...no tattoos though... I wonder how fast he can run when he has to poop...OH..sorry...my mind wandered there for a sec!
Anyway...the 19 year old "reptile expert" says that this fella is a wild caught import. And that w/c retiles come with "all sorts of viruses and things" and that there is "nothing you can do"
I posted about this guy over in the skink forum, and someone replied saying its illegal to import PTS...I'd be VERY interested to learn more, and I thought since you owned your own shop, you'd be the person to ask...yeah, yeah...I'm sucking up! I know!
But...it's also true.
Thanks BigT...as always!
