I did find those janseni on this site but they were just the "normals". I thought you said there were black specimens available.

Did you work with both forms? Which did you like better?

The cage first had three coats of Mahoganey stain applied. I went with that dark of a color because the wood has some minor scratches etc. and because I just used normal putty to fill the screw holes (rather than real-wood plugs). Also, the birch edge banding did not match the veneer on the plywood that well so I felt a darker stain would cover up all those differencces. It did.

Then I put on several coats of Polycrylic water-based polyurethane. Water-based polyurethane is very easy to work with but not suitable for all species.

For your Cyclura with their long claws and greater humidity requirements I'd use a clear epoxy. You can go ahead and use that on the Bearded cage as well.
