question about carefresh

Iv'e heard that this may be too drying for hatchling snakes. My 02 P.d.deppei baby is in a 15 gall screen top with about 2 inches of this stuff. He has a water bowl at all times, Temps about 80. Should I change the carefreesh out for aspen.Any response would be appreciated.
