I just purchased a new heat mat....It says right on the package NOT to use it with a wooden or plastic aquarium! Only glass. Second question: Heat mats always go on the outside of an aquarium. On the bottom of course. The idea of having a heat mat for a snake is to prevent burns. That's why you dont use a heat rock.
