He is very handsome and looks fine to me. He looks like a typical male three-toed to me. Many of my box turtles (I have twelve now, btw) have those holes in their shell. If anyone has any idea as to what those are, I would love to know.
I have been told that they are many things, from dog/predator bites to hooks used to capture them out of their burrows. I have always wondered exactly what causes them.

:Here's one of my males. I think he's relatively old by looking at his shell. His face has has some of the brightest colors out of all my turtles. On his shell is a small hole (not seen in this photo), which looks like a B-B shot. Some kids probably shot at him a long time ago.
