I've not had a viper boa, but I do own a pair of wild caught Solomon Island ground boas. Yes, young candoia can be problematic feeders, espceially if they are wild caught, but they are well worth the effort. I'd recommend you contact Jerry Conway for any of the candoia (viper boas or Solomon Islands), he is the end-all-be-all of candoia and has quality captive bred animals. If I'm not mistaken, his are also already feeding on pinks.
My experience with blood pythons is simply by observation, I have never owned one. Every blood I've ever seen has been a hissy, bitey little devil. That isn't to say they all are or that they can't be tamed, I'm sure there are a number of people like John who have great bloods...I've just not met any of them. lol
