Dan,
. Sterilite tubs are fine for smaller BRBs. I and most other breeders use newspaper substrate for BRBs (or papertowels for very small BRBs). Cypress mulch makes good subsrate for BRBs but be sure that it is clean and bug free. I think anyone getting a new BRB should keep it on newspaper or papertowels at first. The breeder you get it from probably has been keeping it on newspaper substrate and if you change to another substrate and have a problem it will be hard to determine if the problem is related to the substrate or something else. After the snake is doing fine at your house for a couple weeks you can then change it over to cypress mulch substrate. Moving to a new home can be stressful to the snake. By limiting the amount of change you can perhaps lessen the stress on the snake.

:I plan on getting my brb this weekend, FINALLY. Well, i dont have the larger 100gal. yet. So is it ok to use a sterlite tub, its pretty big, about 15-16gal. And i have done my research, but i would like to know what substrate is best. I want to use cypress mulch because it holds humidity well. Oh, and its under a year.
