looking for a lizard to put in a 35 gal tank

I want a lizard that will not out grow a 35 gal tank, geckos are out, they are crazy little buggars that I cannot seem to taime and the little bitty snake looking ones are out because I would like to hold it and not lose it...
I do have a tank all set with everything but the subtrate,
any help would be great!
