Reptiles just arent "cuddling" pets and handling any type of reptile (whether it 'seems' like it likes to be handled or not), in the long run, causes stress. And, children quickly lose interest in a pet they cant touch, pet, etc.

I agree with you, 7 is a bit young. try some plastic ones.
