I wouldnt even go with a leopard gecko. If you want something to hold, try a dog or rabbit. Reptiles just arent "cuddling" pets and handling any type of reptile (whether it 'seems' like it likes to be handled or not), in the long run, causes stress. And, children quickly lose interest in a pet they cant touch, pet, etc.
