Try a leopard gecko. They are hardy and bred in captivity. African-fat tailed geckos are good choices too.

Other lizards I recommend for you if you are willing to research and plan ahead are....

Brown anole
Knight anole (if you have the space)
Green lacerta
Gold dust day geckos
Bearded dragons (be warned, adults take huge, smelly dumps)
