I just bought a female uromastyx (a mali) today and I am a first time lizard owner. When I brought her home today, I expected her to be kind of shook up because her familiar environment at the store was gone. But since I brought her home, she has pretty much been sitting in the same place and not moving. She was very active in the store and would crawl all over my shoulders and head. Now she won't crawl on me or even in the tank.
I bought all the necessary equipment (AND some...) for her to be comfortable. Is this typical behavior for a new lizard? Does it take awhile for them to get used to their environment before they start perking up again? If so, what's the typical time frame?
She's not eating, either. The store told me that she ate like a pig. Do they starve themselves for a couple of days before they settle in? I just want to know what to expect as a new lizard owner. I want her to have the best care possible.
Thanks alot for your help!
Julie
