I will leave the ultimate choice up to my stepson. I'll give him a choice among the 3 lizards that were suggested (i.e. bearded, leo, fat tail). I could be happy with any of these choices (not to offend anyone, but I'm not sure I'm ready to have snakes in the house!). I have a spare 55 gallon tank that I was planning on giving my stepson for his new pet (whichever we end up with), so I don't think there should be any problem with the size of the habitat for any of those three. I will need to consider the extra costs involved with the bearded lizard, but I kinda feel like if that is what the kiddo wants, I will find a way... it is his birthday, after all (AND this is a long-term commitment, so I'd rather he get what he wants now, rather than 'settling' on a pet he's less than thrilled with).
