igs though cute when little can turn into 5-7 foot monsters. they take a lot of time and patience. yr or more. they all have their own personalities. same for monitors. takes a lot of time. igs can be 3-4 ft in a couple yrs. a custom enclosure will be needed...min requirements around 6ft tall by 4 feet wide, and 6-8ft long would be good. your save can be3ft+ in one yr! cage 4ft tall by 4 feet wide by 8 ft long would be the min cage requirements. igs eat greens and savs eat insects when little and mostly rodents when they get to appropriate size. my sav also ate nigth crawlers and crayfish. both require heating elements. igs basking spot 95 watrm side 80s and cool side 80 during the day. night can drop to 75. savs need a 120-150 basking spot, 80s warm side 80 cool side during the day and temps can drop at night to 75 also. i use full spectrum bulbs for both.....your 45 gallon tank will only last a few months for each. both can inflict a good bite....when larger they can do a lot of damage with bites...also they both can give you a nasty sting/welt with a whip of their tails. i have both now and i love them. but they might not clam down for you. my ig is pretty sweet. my black throat is less handable ( at 2 yrs old and almost 5 ft) a good site to look up sav infor would be pro exotics.com/ they don't sell savs but they sell black throats which require the same care as saves. so go look at their caresheets....go to the ig forum adn read through the posts to get an idea what you might be getting into. both of thses animals are long term commitments. igs can licve 15-25 yrs and the savs 10+. email me if you have more SPECIFIC questions.
