The majority of balls, even CBB healthy ones, go off feed for some time or another. This can be extremely stresful on the owner. I would not suggest a ball as a first snake. I would go with a corn, rosy boa, or a childrens/spotted python. These stay small and don't have the feeding problems that usually come with balls.
