I use a ceramic only in the 2 ten gallons I have right now. They work great but can get the temps very high if not properly controlled. I use Zoo meds repti-temp 500R to control them and it works great. Remember that the ten gallon is very small so you will only need a UTH or heat bulb not both. I wouldnt use both until you get upwards of 30-40 gallon tanks. Good luck
