I wouldn't varnish a piece of driftwood. But I would wash it with bleach or put it in the oven on 350 for about a half hour. Unless you bought the wood from a pet shop I wouldn't trust it to be sanitary/without parasites.
:I have found a nice piece of driftwood that I wanted to put in Mors’ enclosure.
:My question is should I varnish it or not? The reason for varnish is that wood is porous and I would hate to think that if Mors pooped on it that the juices would penetrate the wood (impossible to clean) making the enclosure unsanitary.
:Also, does varnish produce harmful vapours if heated… cuz I hope to have it under the basking light.
