Habu

Does anyone know the habits of habu, and if so where can I find good literature. I'm on Okinawa, on the Ryukan Island chain south of Japan. I just can't seem to find one no matter how hard I look, although I have seen quite a few pickled in bottles of sake. Any help you could throw my way would be appreciated. Shane
