Hey,
I have finally found a recipe that produces up to my standard! I'm tired of people posting ff recipes that produce inferior numbers. Here is one that gives me heavy duty results. Enjoy !
This one works like a charm for D.melanogasters. It's not as effective for hydei. I'm experimenting with stuff right now to get my hydeis up to par. I'll post my findings in about a month or so.
down side is that this mix is a bit more expensive, but well worth the effort as it tripled my production. Still a fraction of the cost for commercial mixes. My 32oz containers are producing like never before.
ok, here it is:
2 very, very ripe bananas
Cheapest sweetened apple sauce you can find,
50/50 vinegar and water solution (warm it up a little, not cold & not hot)
1/4 cup of dark molasses
whisk all of the above until smooth
then add
1.5 tbs of active dry yeast and mix very well.
add
instant mashed potato flakes
put in cups, and sprinkle a bit more yeast on top
make the medium quite watered down as over the next 2 weeks or so it will evaporate quite a lot giving you a non-dislodging and not too dry consistency.
my humidity in my fly room is about 45% and constant 26'C
try to keep the conditions similar and don't deviate too much from the recipe and procedure and you'll be very happy with the results.
if you use this recipe, please let me know how it worked for you.
