I think a butterwort will work better and be more suited for your PDF environment. I don't see the gnats wiggling accross the little hairs on the traps in such a way that would cause the trap to react. They sort of flit around and quickly touch the surface of things, and the traps actually need to have its hairs touched a couple of times to get it to react. My traps wouldn't close on the gnats. On FF, Ok, on Milipeads great! I just recently put 2 butterworts on my kitchen counter that had box of moss waiting there for my tank to be filled. Little flying Fungus nats kept escaping from the box and a couple of days after I put the worts there, there were maybe 7-10 gnats on each plant-stuck there. Its like fly tape. What I wonder is if the worts will be Ok with so much food.
