Well the way you see it there is the way it will sit..the tube goes into the false bottom which is filled with water not more that 2 inches below the pump..so it does not have to pull water all that far...as far as the clogging goes I have a screen wrapped around the intake and a access cover in the false bottom where the tube goes in so all I need to do is pull the foam out..pull out the tube and rise. Not sure what you mean by pulling water that far?
