The cage you have him in now sounds sufficient as a quarantine cage. If you just acquired him, you should get a few fecal samples to a herp vet so that both a float and smear can be performed to check for any internal problems that may affect his health or behavior.

Acclimation cannot truly occur until the animal is deemed in good enough health, and has been introduced to a properly setup permanent enclosure. A knight Anole enclosure must consist of the following:

  • 70+ gallons of space
  • Clean climbing branches
  • Plants, real or fake
  • Safe substrate (inkless paper, organic potting soil, reptile carpet)
  • Thermal gradients during the day hours generated by proper overhead heat lamps. A basking spot of roughly 85-92º F, maybe slightly hotter for the larger species, a 80ºF or slightly warmer overall, and a cool spot nearing 75ºF or so. White incandescent bulbs are nice.
  • Overall cool nighttime temp nearing low 70s or so, can be done by using now lamps and simply keeping the room that the enclosure is in that temperature.
  • 5%UVB/33%UVA fluorescent light. I recommend a Repti-Sun 5 tube. This must be no more than 11" from the primary basking branches (correlates with basking gradient mentioned above).
  • Humidity between roughly 60-70%
  • Drinking water provided by droplets through misting or constant source of clean purified running water
  • Varied diet of healthy insects (silkworms, butterworms, waxworms, crickets, lobster roaches, hornworms, waxworm moths) with occasional pinkie as treat. Multivitamin and calcium dusting once to twice a week.

General Anole care basics are somewhat universal. So feel free to checkout my care guide, button below. You have to rethink a lot of things because Knight Anoles are larger. So when I say "get insects this small" or "cage must be this big," know that for a Knight Anole to think bigger. But things such as finding a vet, products to consider or avoid, heating, lighting, supplements, diet, cage setup, can all be applied.
