Once brought into captivity, snakes aren't being used for conservation purposes (offhand, I can't think of any large-scale captivity/re-intro. projects for any organism that have been successful enough to have any biological meaning...nothing but triage IMO). That being the case (assuming that my postulation is correct), why does a high or low F(x) really matter, other than the possibility that captive-bred animals might have more health problems/suffering than their outbred kin?
