Alligator Lizards can eat small rocks if they are hungry. I'll bet that he got hungry when the previous person had him and he ate a few rocks. This is why you should not have small rocks in a cage. It can make Alligator Lizards sick. It sounds like your alligator lizard is doing fine now though. Make sure you have all the proper lighting and everything he needs to be healthy, and feed him plenty of crickets with cricket dust on them.
