: We will soon start an 8 month project in eastern Madagascar, looking at bats primarily. But I like reptiles too and if anyone can recommend good field guides anywhere in Madagascar I'd be grateful, Just a name and contact details will do many thanks, Daniel Bennett, Aberdeen University

Daniel,

Go to Natural History Book Service (www.nhbs.co.uk) and look for:

A Field Guide to the Amphibians and Reptiles of Madagascar
F Glaw and M Vences

or

Amphibians and Reptiles of Madagascar, the Mascarenes, the Seychelles and the Comoros Islands
Friedrich-Wilhelm Henkel and W Schmidt

The former is usually more highly regarded.

Cheers,

Wolfgang
