I am surprised you are more afraid of copperheads though - I've seen more copperheads in the wild than any other kind of snake, never saw them act aggressive or even interested that I was there.

I am not afraid of Copperheads, nor any other species of venomous snake. Such fear is simply irrational. What I meant was that there is a significantly larger risk of being bitten by a Copperhead than a Canebrake. When disturbed, some Copperheads can be downright snappy. Canebrakes generally just try to crawl away. (I have seen lots of both species).
