:Eric, thanks for that bite account (thanks also, Wes, for first bringing this news to the board). I'm trying to learn more about venom allergies in venomous-herp keepers and / or venom workers and I was wondering if you would mind answering a handful of questions about the bite. Here are the questions I have:
:1. How long have you been working with Gilas?
A little over 3yrs now.
:2. Do you have any allergies to anything?
No.
:3. Do you experience burning / watery eyes or nose, wheezing when working around Gilas?
Not yet, but I haven't worked with them since being bitten.
:4. Did you develop any breathing problems, facial swelling, or swallowing difficulty after you were bitten?
Nothing drastic, but it was a bit harder to breathe the next 2 days after the bite.
:5. Did the physicians that treated you feel you had any type of allergic reaction to this bite?
I had no allergic reaction to the bite, but was told the chance exists that I could develop an allergy to Gilas since I was directly exposed to their proteins.
:6. How old are you?
I'm 30.
Hope the answers help out a bit...

:Please respond to my e-mail if you'd rather not post answers here. I would really appreciate your help. Venom allergy seems to be of great interest to the venomous herp community. With the help of people like you, hopefully, we can all learn more about this issue.
