Eric, thanks for that bite account (thanks also, Wes, for first bringing this news to the board). I'm trying to learn more about venom allergies in venomous-herp keepers and / or venom workers and I was wondering if you would mind answering a handful of questions about the bite. Here are the questions I have:
1. How long have you been working with Gilas?
2. Do you have any allergies to anything?
3. Do you experience burning / watery eyes or nose, wheezing when working around Gilas?
4. Did you develop any breathing problems, facial swelling, or swallowing difficulty after you were bitten?
5. Did the physicians that treated you feel you had any type of allergic reaction to this bite?
6. How old are you?
Please respond to my e-mail if you'd rather not post answers here. I would really appreciate your help. Venom allergy seems to be of great interest to the venomous herp community. With the help of people like you, hopefully, we can all learn more about this issue.
Cheers & Season's Greetings,
