: If ANY of you are keeping venomous without anitivenom, call Al and get a membership application to the Antivenom Bank... for 50$ a year, they promise to provide replacement anitvenin in the event that a member is bitten. This means that if you live in Timbuctoo and you get bit, your local zoo won't have to go without replacement antiserum for their staff in the event that you (a private keeper) get bit... It also means that you won't have to pay 1000$ per ampule for CroFab..... The bank is CHEAP insurance.
Tom, I am certainly not detracting from the usefulness of the A/v Bank, but I seem to recall reqading that they don't supply a/v for native (US) species - in other words, they WON'T supply CroFab, only exotic antivenoms (which usually cost $20-50 a shot...).
Cheers,
Wolfgang
