if you can hold two musks side by side, and they are opposite sexes, you will have no problem telling them apart. Without that comparison I myself have trouble with species I am not familiar with or have not yet been able to compare like that.

Males have a very trunklike tail, making the females look dinky in comparison, but either by itself is just relative and so hard to quantify in a typed description...

Heck, I had one spotted turtle for a year, and I didn't know "for sure" which sex it was until I went to buy another and was shown a male and female side by side for comparison. And I've kept TONS of north american species.

I would recommend heading to a reptile show, since there will be so many animals there you'll have a good chance of being able to see and compare animals on the spot. You might also get to eliminate some that might be harassing their cramped show quarters tankmates.
