I tend to be blunt and to the point. At least by my definition of succesful keeping, outdoors is by far superior. That has the same objective meaning as saying indoors is by far inferior. I don't read either way of putting it as any different than the other.

I don't know you from adam, or your keeping methods. I've kept turtles for over twenty years as well, just as you have. Other than that, I can only go from what I know and have learned. I hadn't thought about the idea of different definitions of "success" before (likely do to my lack of eloquence and my impolitic communication). I would suppose, though, that if your definition is high rates of reproduction in spotted turtles in particular, you might find my methods far inferior, since we might have different goals.

Condescending? Hrm. I don't think so, but then, tone of voice is not present in the printed text here, just the voice we hear when we read it, which is of our own minds.
