The thing is, this is all based on emotion and nothing else - what bothered you and made you uncomfortable, and what you didn't like - but are you willing to help out? Here's a way to help, put some ads (free calendar of events-type ads) in the major West Virginian newspapers. You occasionally mentioned talking to dealers, while looking for a species, ask them to be vendors at our show.

It's not that you didn't have any valid points, or points to discuss, it's just that you didn't help out, and then rant when it isn't what you think it should be. You can't do both.

That having been said, I do think you have good intentions, and while I don't think it is practical to have the vendors sticking all sorts of stickers on their hots, a poster listing various species and their "relative" toxicity in relation to each other and some sort of standard (if there is one) isn't a bad idea. I'll see what I can do.

: I should have thought more prior to my posting. You were right as far as my area not being the reptile trade. I do however keep several herp species, but would considered my background to be oriented towards science. I think the fact that someone could walk out of there with an elapid really bothered me and made me feel very uncomfortable. Even though I don’t agree with everything the organization does, I like you want the herp community to have a better image than it does currently. I apologize for the harshness of my post, and feel like I acted out of emotion towards our public image as herpers. I dind't enjoy hearing people refering to us as wackos and crazies, and felt that this was a result of the setup of the show. Like I said in my prior posting I have done several things for the society in a silent manner though. If you need my help, just ask. Forget about striking my name from the roster, unless you feel the need to. I am all about people keeping venomous snakes; I just feel that an awful lot of experience is needed prior to this.
