You mean it's OK to pluck thousands of Corallus out of the wild, but cutting a few branches from trees on your own property (or local property that hasn't yet been cleared for new construction) is bad?

As for yours & Tim's comments regarding dissinfecting the wood (and any kind of natural wood cage furnishings)....that goes without saying. The guy asked where to find those vines, there was no reason for me to talk to him like he was some new inexperienced kid who didn't know anything. That would be insulting his intelligence.
