I never leave him out overnight. With his house
being bricked around the bottom nothing gets under
it, (except the toad which is under his deck:)
Whenever they get a new house it might take a few
days for them to figure out the shelter is THEIR
new house, just put them into it - especially
in the evening if you want them to sleep in it.
On times Teddy's fallen asleep in his house when
we leave him out on long summer evenings or
he falls asleep under the bushes at my parent's
house, I just carry him (groggy and sleepy looking!)
indoors. You could just put them into the shelter,
even if they fall asleep somewhere else in the
enclosure. They'll learn.
I have captured (and re-located) a copperhead
(venomous snake) in my back yard and yes I do
look into his house (that's the advantage of the
lift up roofs) before reaching in there, just
be cautious not worried.
