If you have Oleander then it's obvious that you need to be careful of it around kids and pets.
I haven't heard of any poisonings here in AZ yet.
But even if you don't have it in the yard, it's used as a landscaping plant everywhere.
At the schools in the parks, all over the place, there's no escaping it.
I made sure to warn my daughter not to put it in her mouth.
Not that she would anyway at her age, maybe younger children would though.

It's definately a plant that should be kept away from pets and small children.

I do have quite a few Oleander in both my front and back yard.
But nowhere near the tortoises area.

Actually I had no idea that Oleander was even poisonous until I read the book White Oleander!
