: you're not going to like this and neither do I but what I feed is pink mice to the small tortoises and fuzzy mice to the larger tortoises (redfoots that is)you can usually buy them frozen or freeze them yourself. DO NOT FEED LIVE. It's real gross. Even frozen is gross so I can't watch it. The advantage is that it is a complete organism with minimal fat content. Once a week or every other week is fine. I've never seen a redfoot refuse one.

A pinky mouse? Really? I have no problem with it, but my wife will freak out. I was going to buy the science diet, reduced fat catfood and only feed a little bit each week. Wow...a pinky mouse. A stupid question...how will a tiny tortoise eat a pinky mouse? Do I need to chop it up or will they kind of chew it apart? Also, I don't mean to doubt you, but I have not seen anything about feeding them pinky mice anywhere. Do you have a link? Sorry to sound all disbeliving but I can't imagine the little guys eating a pinky mouse :)
